  On the morning of March 20, the Third-Generation Semiconductor Industry Technology Research Institute signed an agreement to settle in Jiaxing Science and Technology City, aiming to smoothly promote the industrialization project of gallium nitride radio frequency and power devices and promote the gathering development of the third-generation semiconductor industry in Jiaxing Science and Technology City.

  The research institute is jointly established by Jiaxing Science and Technology City and Zhejiang Bofang Jiaxin Integrated Circuit Technology Co., Ltd. It will rely on the team technology and talents of the company to build a third-generation semiconductor research platform and industrialization platform, and build a leading domestic and internationally advanced semiconductor technology innovation, talent, and industrialization base.

  During the cooperation period, the research institute will introduce and cultivate a group of teams and talents focusing on the third-generation semiconductor industry; relying on the gallium nitride radio frequency and power device industrialization project and the research institute's research team and scientific and technological achievements, it will provide basic services for the R&D and testing of the third-generation semiconductors; incubate various technological achievements and industrial projects; and introduce and settle a batch of upstream and downstream industrialization development projects around the core integrated circuit industry of Jiaxing Science and Technology City.

  The research institute will also focus on the industrial development needs of Jiaxing Science and Technology City and the R&D needs of the research institute, and will focus on carrying out application-oriented research in the third-generation semiconductor industry. With the R&D of semiconductor materials and process technology as the core, it will attract upstream and downstream equipment, materials, packaging and testing, and design companies to settle in, as well as the later industrial cultivation and incubation, to build a comprehensive platform integrating scientific and technological research and development and talent cultivation, and form a cluster effect of the integrated circuit industry.

  The reporter from Zhejiang News learned that on January 20 this year, the Jiaxing Nanhu Microelectronics Industry Platform was included in the second batch of Zhejiang Province's "Ten Thousand Mu and Hundreds of Billions" new industrial platform cultivation list, adding a "new engine" to the high-quality development of Nanhu District's economy, and promoting the creation of a digital economy highland. The Bofang Jiaxin gallium nitride radio frequency and power device project, which started construction on March 3, is a landmark project of the Nanhu Microelectronics Industrial Park's "Ten Thousand Mu and Hundreds of Billions" platform and a demonstration project of China's third-generation semiconductor chip industry. It will open the curtain of domestic substitution of gallium nitride semiconductors, replacing silicon-based chips with independently manufactured radio frequency and power gallium nitride chips, filling the gap in manufacturing in China.

  “The third-generation semiconductor industry is the ‘pearl’ of the future integrated circuit industry, and it is a technology-intensive, talent-intensive, and capital-intensive industry.” Zhang Bo, chairman of Zhejiang Bofang Jiaxin Integrated Circuit Technology Co., Ltd., said that they hope to use the research institute as a basis to attract teams and talents from the global third-generation semiconductor industry to gather together to jointly promote the integrated circuit industry.

  Creating an industrial landmark and strengthening the integrated circuit industry. Nanhu District launched the construction of the Nanhu Microelectronics "Ten Thousand Mu and Hundreds of Billions" new industrial platform, focusing on promoting the construction of a number of landmark projects such as Zhongjing Semiconductor, gallium nitride, and Star Semiconductor IPM module technological transformation, creating a microelectronic raw material, design, packaging and testing, and intelligent terminal application industrial chain, striving to achieve an output value of 30 billion yuan for the digital economy industry with microelectronics as the core, accounting for more than 50% of the added value of industries above designated size.

  Vigorously developing the digital economy and cultivating new industrial driving forces. The new generation of information technology industry has become the leading industry in Nanhu District. At present, more than 500 enterprises directly related to the digital economy have gathered in the district. Intelligent terminals, integrated circuits, and flexible electronics are developing interactively in subdivided fields, gradually growing into a new generation of information technology industry clusters with obvious scale effects, distinct industrial characteristics, and complete industrial chains.
